Homeroom teachers will be playing the announcements on Wednesdays during homeroom.
Homeroom teachers are provided with a text version of the announcements. We are also working on Closed Captioning solutions.

This evening at 6:30pm, the Newton North Boys’ Basketball team will host Braintree. The overwhelming majority of our students behave appropriately at school events. However, since there have been problems involving alcohol at these events in past years, the administration is continuing its efforts to be proactive and help students make good, safe decisions.
In order to support students to make good choices, the following conditions will be in effect:
• NNHS students must enter the event by going through the main entrance of the building on Tiger Drive.
• Backpacks, bags, and containers may not be brought into the gymnasium.
• All students will be subject to search. If need be, a breathalyzer will be utilized.
• If students are found to be in possession or under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance, they will be suspended from school. They will also lose the privilege to be a spectator at future Newton North athletic events.
p.s. This is in response to NNHS Boys Basketball versus Catholic Memorial last year.

Sign up for our 6-week gender specific program, developed by our international soccer performance specialist for U13-U19 players, focusing on soccer specific strength training, injury prevention, core conditioning, speed, agility and quickness.
Players will also be educated on all of these elements of performance so that they take ownership of their personal performance in the future.
Times: Sundays : 5:00pm – 6:00pm (GIRLS), 6:00pm – 7:00pm (BOYS). Mondays: 5:00pm – 6:00pm (Boys and Girls)
Cost: $175 for one day OR $250 for Both Days
Ages: U13 – U19 Boys & Girls Players will be split into appropriate age groups.

The Williams Auction opens for bidding on January 28, 2017 at 8:00 AM EST.
Our goal this year is to raise $20,000 to support our elementary school. Our PTO funds numerous programs not covered by the Newton school system such as Creative Arts & Sciences, Child Abuse Prevention programs, Understanding Our Differences, library books and literacy, physical education equipment, and much more.

My name is Max Metz and I am the Manager at the Durant-Kenrick House and Grounds of Historic Newton. I contacted you on Facebook about an idea we have been thinking about at our museums and I wanted to ask if anyone would be interested in a FREE reading weekly activity for kids that we would host.
So, the idea is to give a free option for families during the week, I was thinking about offering a reading day once a month at the museum where we would pick a book to read to the kids and or watch a short educational film related to the book’s content. It would be an hour long program and free for parents and kids.
Does this sound like something parents would be interested in? Would there be a better day of the week or time for families?

If you are a mom of a high school student who has an interest in drama, this one is for you.
Two years ago my daughter Morgan attended the Summer Pre-College program at Marist College. The course was such a positive experience for Morgan, our family has maintained close communication with Marist ever since. Last year, Marist gave me scholarships to share with my friends.
Yesterday, Marist again offered me a handful of scholarships to the Theatre Pre-College course starting on June 25th, exclusive to my friends – and any moms you might know with a drama kid. The scholarship is for $825 and covers 25% of the total cost of attendance.
I have quite a bit of experience with sending my children to pre-college programs. Although the cost is typically $3,000-$5,000, I can tell you that the experience is well worth it. My children were far more confident about going off to college when they graduated from high school. They learned to live in a dorm, do their own laundry and get along with roommates and as a bonus they earned college credits.
This course offers high school students the opportunity to “test-drive” a college theatre course while living on campus for two weeks. Upon successful completion of the Summer Theatre Institute, each student earns three transferrable college credits for the Marist course ENG 150 Introduction to Theatre. The program also includes seeing live theatre, both locally and with a trip to Broadway with a backstage tour (last summer’s Theatre Institute toured “The Book of Mormon” and had a private talk-back with the cast of “Jersey Boys”.) Best of all, they keep the program small so that the student’s experience is an intimate and rewarding one.

Did anyone else notice the defect of the curbing being to high from the street level on Auburn Street on the Village Bank block?
It appears that a remedy is required to prevent other cars from being damaged on the front bumpers. The easiest, and least costly, remedy is to raise the level of paving in front of the curbing.
