Newton House Tour May 22 Offers Inside Look at Remarkable Properties
On May 22 from noon to 5 pm, owners of outstanding private homes in Newton open their doors and welcome the public inside for the Newton House Tour. Now in its 34th year, the much-anticipated annual tour showcases a selection of styles. The variety reflects the rich architectural heritage in Newton as well as creative ideas for interior design, restoration and renovation. Tickets for the tour, $35 per person and $30 for Historic Newton members, raise funds for Historic Newton. Order tickets online athistoricnewton.org, or by calling (617) 796-1450.
The 2016 tour features two Victorians, each updated and decorated in a different way. One of the oldest properties on the tour, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, dates back to 1866. At the other extreme is a new home built for aging in place. In all, the tour includes seven properties.
To kick off the House Tour, Historic Newton hosts a Preview Party on Saturday, May 21. Attendees enjoy hors d’oeuvres, fine wines and a slide show of the homes featured on this year’s tour. Preview party tickets begin at $125 per person.
