I saw this tweet recently that said Newton, MA was the only city to have an African-American Mayor, Governor AND President. We are making history!

And I think they are all Firsts!

First Black Governor of Massachusetts: Deval Patrick.

The first African-American Governor was Douglas Wilder of Virginia in 1990.

First Black Mayor of Newton, MA: Setti Warren

The first African-American mayor was Pierre Caliste Landry of  Donaldsonville, Louisiana in 1868.

    The first African American Governor was PBS Pinchback of Louisiana following Reconstruction in 1872! Google his name.
