This is the 11th consecutive and 17th overall appearance in the NCAA Tournament for the women’s soccer program. Boston College has been to eight Sweet 16’s, two Elite Eight’s and of course the 2010 College Cup.

Boston College is one of eight Atlantic Coast Conference teams that earned bids to the tournament. Virginia (20-1-0), North Carolina (17-4-0), Virginia Tech (16-4-2) and Florida State (18-1-3) are all No. 1 seeds in the tournament. The other four ACC teams in the tournament are BC, Notre Dame (11-7-1), Duke (8-8-4) and Wake Forest (10-6-2).

The Eagles are led by two of the top scorers in the ACC – Stephanie McCaffrey and McKenzie Meehan. McCaffrey, a junior from Winchester, is second on the team and fourth in the ACC in scoring with 12 goals and eight assists for 32 points. She was named an All-ACC first team member last week.

Meehan, a native of Smithfield, R.I., leads the team, is second in the conference and 29th in the country in points scored with 17 goals, one assist for 35 points. Meehan, who is also 11th in the country in goals scored (17), was named to the All-ACC second team. Casey Morrison leads BC defense as the junior from York, PA, was named an All-ACC third team honoree last week.
