    David Weber, associate director of undergraduate admission at Boston College, will discuss the college admission process and answer your questions at Newton Inspires: An Evening of Ideas and Community on Monday, November 14. Now in its sixth year, this FREE event, brought to you by Newton Schools Foundation, gathers Newton residents for an evening of discussion with some of our community’s best and brightest.  While Newton Inspires is geared toward adults, we invite high school juniors and seniors to join us for Mr. Weber’s session about the ins and outs of college admissions and to enjoy other speaking sessions as well.  Go to www.NewtonSchoolsFoundation.org to register.

    The Arsenal Center for the Arts is proud to present another edition of Earfull – a literature and music series of “Writers Reading and Songwriters Singing”

    The series continues Tuesday, November 15th with authors Tom Perrotta and Lily King and musiciansTanya Donelly and The Needy Sons.

    And finally, Tuesday, December 13th Earfull welcomes Anita Diamant and Heidi Pitlor with musiciansDietrich Strause and Lula Wiles.

    The brainchild of Boston Musician and Author Jen Trynin and bookstore connoisseur Tim Huggins,Earfull first launched in the Fall of 2001 with the concept that, given a conducive environment, book people will appreciate being exposed to live music, and rock people will realize how cool it is to hear great authors reading their work aloud! EARFULL aimed to provide that environment, combining prominent author readings with established singer-songwriters in the hopes of broadening the appreciation of and audiences for both. After a brief hiatus from multiple sold-out seasons of the series, the Arsenal Center for the Arts is excited to bring back the beloved programming for a second season to a whole new audience.

    Family members of all ages are invited to Family Day: Around the World in 6,000 Years on Saturday, November 5, 11 a.m. through 3 p.m. at the Davis Museum at Wellesley College. The newly reinstalled permanent collections galleries of the Davis Museum provide the inspiration for visitors to travel through time and around the globe with a full program of activities.

    Activities that engage all ages

    Family Day will feature art-making activities appropriate for all ages, with the opportunity for participants to take home their own creation. Visitors will also be able to take home a prize once they complete a travel-themed scavenger hunt around the museum.

     Family Day: Around the World in 6,000 Years will also feature international folktales from professional storyteller Alan White, musical performances by Wellesley College’s traditional Japanese drumming group, Aiko, and tours of the reinstalled museum galleries led by knowledgeable Davis Student Guides.

    In an effort to engage young people in the upcoming election, the Institute is hosting its first-ever Kid Convention. Bring your family and work together with fellow Senators-in-Training in the Institute’s replica Senate Chamber to discuss the qualities of an ideal leader and what issues might be important to focus on this fall. Recommended for children ages 5 and up. This is a free event.
