    Part-Time Job at Harvard Business School

    The MBA Program at Harvard Business School has a part-time position available, with primary responsibility for updating and maintaining a number of the program’s internal and external websites. The position is a 4 month term position, with a possibility of extension, and has the following primary responsibilities:

    -Gathering website feedback and coordinating responses / changes
    -Basic web maintenance: adding links and pages
    -Building web forms
    -Partnering with the IT team for technical projects
    -Documenting changes, policies, and procedures
    -advising a team that is working on a native iOS and Android app with embedded web content

    A successful candidate would be fluent in HTML, and comfortable with SharePoint and CSS. Strong writing skills, and the ability to document and set guidelines in multiple formats (text and video, e.g. Camtasia) are very welcome. Schedule is negotiable, though the ability to regularly travel to the HBS campus is required. BA/BS desired.

    Living Peace is a professional organizing company specializing in residential and small office organizing services. This thirteen-year old company (based in Arlington, MA) is in a period of growth, and you could contribute at a fundamental level to that future.

    This position offers flexible hours. The hourly commitment will vary from week to week, but for the right candidate the hours will certainly increase over time.

    This position will include 6 months of EXTENSIVE training in professional organizing skills and techniques. Training time will be will begin on a contractor basis for first 3 months after which final hiring decisions will be made.

    Position responsibilities would include:

    • Identify organizing systems needed in various client situations and ability to recognize zones of activity (Space Planning)

    • Guide clients hands-on through implementing the organizing process- Sort, Purge, Assign Homes, Containerize, Equalize

    Responsible for the success of several key areas of online course delivery for a portfolio of online professional education courses, directly serving approximately 1,000 students, offered by the Center for Aging and Disability Education and Research within the School of Social Work. Monitor student performance, addressing issues that arise daily in accessing courses, and help students successfully complete the online program. Organize the delivery of the online program. Oversee and administer the preparation, launch, and execution of courses within the learning management system. Create and manage monthly training reports based on participant progress and feedback in order to communicate progress to the training liaisons in order to ensure successful student engagement in online courses.
    Required Skills
    B.A./B.S. required. Strong communication and organizational skills. Familiarity with learning management systems desirable. Three to five years of related work experience. This position is 50% time. It is externally funded and is contingent on continued availability of external funding.

    OurNewton.org, a Newton-based website posting news ALL about Newton, is seeking a curious and committed high school intern. In this position you will learn how to

    • Post content to OurNewton.org
    • Build OurNewton’s readership using social media (including Twitter), Google Analytics, and Facebook Insights
    • Measure and interpret the results of these social media activities
    • Set specific, measurable goals in order to achieve desired results

    In helping us grow our readership and reinforce our positive presence, you will also be helping us strengthen our community.

    Schedule

    You may create a flexible schedule with a minimum of 5 hours a week. Motivated interns may earn school credit, college recommendations, and real work experience. Past interns have learned concrete skills and greatly benefited from their OurNewton.org experience.

    Location

    Training will take place during after-school hours at the Keller Williams Realty in Newton Highlands with OurNewton.org board members Janet Porcaro and Lynne LeBlanc. We will hold regular biweekly meetings with you to hear your ideas, review your work, provide feedback, and start you on new projects. We will also be available by phone and email for regular check-ins.
