High Schools That Send The Most Kids to Ivy League: Newton North and Newton South (WSJ)
The Wall Street Journal looked at the freshman class at 10 highly selective colleges (i.e.e Ivy League), counted them up, and ranked the high schools — private day and boarding, public, and magnet — by the number of kids sent. While you would expect elite boarding schools like Andover and Philips Exeter to do well, Newton South High School and Newton North High School both make the list sending in 23 or 6% of its class and 25 or 4% of its class respectively.
Newton’s High Schools in Top 5 Percent Nationwide
Newsweek published its list of the country’s best high schools this week, and Newton North ranked 754 as compared to Newton South’s rank of 776. According to Newsweek’s Web site, all schools on the list are in the top 5 percent of schools nationwide.
